County to partner on America250 celebrations; administrator to bring $65,000 MOU for marketing support

Tracy described a countywide communications strategy, branding assets and an events calendar to promote local history and tourism tied to the national 250th anniversary. “We want to highlight Butler County's unique history and contribution to The United States,” Tracy said, outlining partnerships with state America250 initiatives including the Air and Space Trail, Creativity Trail and Lake Erie to Ohio River Trail.
County Administrator Boyko said the board previously agreed to partner with Bridal Butler County and that the county had earmarked $65,000 to support marketing and community outreach for the program. Boyko said he would bring a memorandum of understanding to the Sept. 16 meeting to codify the county’s financial assistance. “We did earmark $65,000 for a budget for her to be able to do some of this marketing and working with the communities,” the administrator said.
Why it matters: the America250 activities are planned as a year‑long celebration in 2026 and could involve courthouse events, mural promotions, historic-site passes and business participation to promote tourism and local heritage. Commissioners discussed using the courthouse square and courthouse lawn as anchor locations once exterior rehabilitation is complete.
No formal contract was approved at the meeting. The administrator said a draft MOU would be presented to the board at its Sept. 16 meeting for formal approval. Commissioners complimented Tracy’s outreach and noted coordination with courthouse restoration efforts to showcase the courthouse during 2026 events.
