County creates regular part-time custodian position at Juvenile Justice Center; funds moved from extra help

The court approved creation of a regular part-time custodian position at the Victoria County Regional Juvenile Justice Center to replace a current temporary extra-help employee and to remain in compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
Gianni, who presented the item, said staff want to continue scheduling a current employee at 30 hours per week and therefore must change the employment category from extra help to a part-time regular position. She told the court the action requires no additional county funding because the change will be accomplished by moving $14,750 within existing line items.
“...they have a current employee serving as a temporary extra help. They would like to continue regularly scheduling her to work 30 hours a week, in order to remain compliance under FLSA,” Gianni said during the presentation.
The court approved the position creation and the accompanying budget amendment, and staff reported the auditor’s office assisted in preparing the appropriate budget documents for recording.
