Commissioners approved a motion to advertise a solicitation to lease the old Bloomington Little League field to an officially chartered Little League organization for youth activities.

Commissioner Garcia said the county recently discovered it owns the parcel that Bloomington Little League had long used. He told the court the Port of Victoria navigation district has offered to help rebuild parts of the field, specifically the fence.

Legal counsel is preparing a draft lease and an interlocal agreement to limit the property's use to Little League softball or youth activities and to set the lease amount at $0. Commissioner Garcia said the agreement will be posted as a public solicitation because state law requires that process even though local practice suggests only one organization is likely to bid.

Commissioners approved advertising the solicitation and asked staff to route the draft agreement through the court for final review. No additional budget appropriation was authorized at the meeting.
