Victoria County Commissioners on June 9 authorized advertisement of an invitation to bid to supply quicklime materials for all county precincts, a step county staff said was needed because a Key Road rebuild funded by Union Pacific will be constructed to a different standard.
A county commissioner explained, “this is the rebuild of Key Road that Union Pacific will be, providing the funding for,” and that lime had not been in prior bid packages because the project will be built to a different specification. Road and bridge staff said the county will request quicklime in pellet form and that suppliers typically deliver materials by truck when required rather than stockpiling at the precinct yard.
The court approved moving forward with the invitation to bid on a motion and second. Staff said the item simply places quicklime on the county’s materials bid list so crews can order and receive deliveries as needed for the project and other road maintenance work.
