The Commissioners Court accepted an executed agreement with Raleigh McCoy & Associates (RMA) and authorized staff to advertise competitive sealed proposals for renovations at the Victoria County Regional Public Safety Training Center.
John, county staff, told the court the base bid would cover HVAC upgrades, conversion from dual electrical service to a single service, restroom renovations, replacement of a bank of front windows, a kitchen conversion to training office space, and installation of a transfer switch so a trailer generator could be connected during emergencies. Additive alternates include blocking windows at the rear classroom bank, converting the library area to training/break space, adding a dedicated generator, and finishing office space on the east side of the building.
"The agreement with RMA was to formalize our agreement... prepared these bid documents," John said. He told the court the project is proposed to be advertised with an optional pre‑bid meeting on July 2 and bid openings planned for July 10. The court approved the motion to receive the executed contract and to authorize advertisement of the project.
Sheriff's staff noted roof and water intrusion issues that should be addressed in the base bid; John confirmed roof repairs are included in the base scope. The court did not authorize specific construction contracts at the meeting; it authorized the procurement process to solicit bids and return to court for award decisions.
