Victoria Regional Airport runway 13/31 to close Aug. 4–Sept. 5; commercial service affected

Airport staff told the Commissioners Court that Runway 13/31 at Victoria Regional Airport will be closed from Aug. 4 through Sept. 5 for work, and that commercial passenger service will be curtailed during the closure.

Lenny, airport manager, told the court: "The airport will not be completely closed. Commercial service will be closed due to the fact that the airline operates on Runway 1331." He said the airport has a shorter runway that can accommodate many business jets and that general aviation operations should continue. The airport is working with the airline and said airlines plan to notify affected passengers of rebooking options.

The airport manager said the airport notified the airline weeks in advance and has set up communications through the website and email for passengers with questions. He urged travelers who have flights between Aug. 4 and Sept. 5 to contact the airline to rebook or cancel; the airline has indicated it will contact affected passengers as schedules are adjusted.

Commissioners asked about customer confusion at call centers; airport staff said call‑center agents may not have operational detail but that the airline will offer rebooking support. The airport will post updates on its website and respond to email inquiries.

No court action was required; the item was informational and staff said they would continue outreach to the airline and passengers as work proceeds.
