The Victoria County Commissioners Court on July 7 approved the county’s annual property insurance renewal with the Texas Association of Counties (TAC) Risk Management pool, accepting a renewal of roughly 10% over the prior year and noting a $3,000,000 increase in total insured values.
Representatives from TAC briefed the court on the renewal. TAC staff said the county’s total insured values increased and that the renewal reflected an overall 10% increase in premiums; TAC staff characterized this as a favorable renewal in the current market. Craig Johnson was introduced as the county’s new law‑enforcement consultant working with the sheriff’s office.
During the discussion commissioners asked whether a recently added facility — the Master Gardeners building — was included on the policy; TAC staff answered that, if the building was added after the presentation, the change would be incorporated and would not change the renewal cost as presented. The court approved the renewal by motion and voice vote; the minutes record a motion, second and “Aye” with no opposed votes recorded.
TAC staff also praised the county’s sheriff’s office readiness and said they looked forward to working with local law enforcement on loss‑control and claims prevention. The court did not adopt additional coverage changes at the meeting.
No specific premium dollar total was recorded in the public discussion beyond the percentage increase and the reported rise in insured values.
