The commissioners court approved a $396,000 design contract with Centurion Planning and Design for rehabilitation work at the Victoria Regional Airport air‑traffic control tower, and received for the record an amended lease with L3 Harris Technologies for an ADS‑B antenna site at the airport.
Airport staff said the FAA awarded a $1.7 million grant to design and construct tower upgrades, including a new generator and a female restroom near the tower cab; the county must fund the design phase so it can bid the work and then draw reimbursement from the FAA. "As you remember, a few months ago, we approved this grant for $1,700,000 ... now we're at a point in which we have to design the project," an airport official said. The court approved the Centurion contract so design work can proceed.
Separately, airport management presented an amended lease with L3 Harris for an automatic dependent surveillance‑broadcast (ADS‑B) antenna. Staff explained that the FAA previously had contracts to place ADS‑B antennas at airports; those agreements are ending and the company will begin paying rent. The amended lease sets an annual payment of $4,430.30 for an initial five‑year term with 3% annual increases afterward and one‑year extensions thereafter. The court received the amended lease for the record.
Both items were approved or received by voice vote; staff said the agreements follow FAA and county procedures and will allow design work to proceed and add recurring airport revenue.
