The Victoria County Commissioners Court on Monday approved a request tied to the Texas Department of Transportation State Highway 185 overpass in Bloomington that reclassifies and transfers portions of FM 616 into the county road inventory.

County staff said the SH‑185 overpass project will realign FM 616; as proposed, the county will adopt and designate the new segment (to be named Bobcat Avenue) and accept that portion into the county road and bridge inventory. The court voted to designate FM 616 as a "major collector," to classify the existing segment from State Highway 185 to King Road as local, and to classify the segment from State Highway 185 to Johnson Street as a minor arterial.

"This is part of the SH‑185 project for the overpass," one precinct official said, and the court approved the recommendation. Commissioners thanked staff and the Metropolitan Planning Organization for moving the project forward and noted the project required coordination with TxDOT.

The court took a formal vote on the road‑classification and inventory adoption and approved the motion.
