The Victoria County Commissioners Court voted Aug. 4 to award the base bid for the Victoria County Regional Public Safety Training Center to Lager Companies Inc. in the amount of $1,229,000 and authorized the county judge to finalize the agreement pending legal review.

A county project representative explained the bid process and described four additive alternates that were not awarded at the same time: alternate 1 (additional windows and rear wall infill), alternate 2 (additional secondary building renovations), alternate 3 (a permanent on-site emergency generator and concrete pad) and alternate 4 (adjacent classroom renovation for the county fire marshal’s office). The project representative recommended awarding alternates 1 and 2 later because they align with the base bid scope and would be cost-effective while the contractor is on site.

The court clarified funding: the project is included in previously issued CO bond funds rather than a separate grant. The record shows a motion and second to approve the base bid award and authorization for the judge to sign; the motion passed by voice vote. A follow-up agenda item will address which alternates to include and bring those costs back to the court for formal approval.
