Travis County commissioners on Tuesday approved a temporary full closure and detour of Williamson Road for construction, authorizing the detour to begin on or about June 17 and continue through Dec. 10, 2025 (or until work is completed).
A county staff representative briefed the court on the detour plan and said the county had notified affected businesses. Staff told the court that a seasonal business that raised questions during public outreach — a pumpkin patch that operates in the fall — was aware of the detour and that access would be maintained during their operation period, although the detour will affect travel times. The court voted in support of the temporary closure; the motion was offered by Judge Brown and seconded by Commissioner Shea, and it passed unanimously.
