Callahan County keeps burn ban in place; local firefighter thanked commissioners for past budget support

Callahan County Commissioners Court voted Sept. 8 to keep the county burn ban in place after hearing a public comment from Doug Campbell of the Callahan County Firefighters Association thanking the court for prior budget support and for imposing the ban when conditions were dry.

Campbell told the court, “we do appreciate y'all putting the burn ban on when it was so dry and hot because we've just been out on 1 fire.” Commissioners responded with no recorded objections and the ban remained active.

The firefighters’ representative also noted the association’s next meeting schedule and asked the court to remember the department in future budgets. The court took no additional funding action at the meeting.
