Callahan County Commissioners Court approved a resolution June 23 supporting the county’s application for HAVA grant funds and authorizing pursuit of reimbursement for past and eligible election-related expenses.

County staff told the court the federal/state HAVA program has funds available again and that Callahan County could be allocated up to $42,500. Staff described the reimbursement as an 80/20 split under which the county’s required match would be about $8,500 if the county applied for the full amount. The reimbursement could cover eligible expenses back to 2024, staff said, including costs tied to recently signed agreements for pull pads.

Commissioner Farmer made the motion to approve the resolution in support of the application; Commissioner Clark seconded and the court recorded unanimous approval with no opposition.

County staff did not provide specific itemized amounts in the public remarks during the meeting; they advised the court only of the maximum allocation and the expected cost-share arrangement.
