Callahan County’s facilities committee reported May 12 that courthouse renovation work is progressing and that a pending electrical connection from American Electric Power (AEP) is the critical remaining step before energizing the elevator and HVAC systems.
A facilities representative told commissioners that the AEP connection should be completed “this week,” after which the courthouse elevator, air conditioning and related systems can be energized. The committee reported installation of irrigation and that carpet installation will begin in offices (not in public corridors) and that furniture deliveries are scheduled; moving of some furniture into the courthouse was planned for the following Wednesday. Representatives also described work on district court fittings, bar rails and restoration or storage of historical desks, plus refurbishment of the courthouse’s wooden exterior doors.
The facilities representative said there was no new information on the annex project and commissioners moved on after the update.
