Council voted to accept the Monte County Appraisal District’s proposed 2026 budget after staff described the district as well‑operated and noted modest increases.

A staff presenter said the appraisal district’s major increases were in contract services (the law firm Pritchard and Habit) and that the tax collection budget rose by 4.1 percent; the appraisal budget increase was reported at about 5.17 percent. The council was told the appraisal district initiated direct deposit of payments this year to add security.

Council members moved and seconded acceptance of the appraisal district’s budget and recorded affirmative votes during the meeting.
