The Bowie City Council unanimously approved Resolution 2025-17 authorizing the Bowie 4B sales tax economic development corporation to contribute 4B funds toward Pelham Park enhancements. Janice, a staff member presenting the item, described the planned improvements and said the project includes four covered pickleball courts, parking adjacent to the soccer field area and upgrades to sidewalks and other features. "It includes the pickleball court. Yes. And it includes the cover for the pickleball court," Janice said. She described the planned location as "the new spot by the buoy knot. So by the soccer fields."
The plan also includes an ADA-compliant walking path: "a new walking path from the where it curves back to the left at the very top of the soccer fields... all the way down to the the buoy knot... totally upgraded in ADA compliant, 5 foot concrete," Janice said. She added that depending on bid results, remaining funds could go toward restroom upgrades near the pool.
