Policy committee favors building-level student-dress guidance, seeks equity and clarity in manual

At the Sept. 2, 2025 policy committee meeting, members discussed proposed changes to student-dress guidance under policy 02.14 and said they favor leaving final decisions to individual school buildings while the district revises and standardizes language for inclusion in the 26-27 student manual.

The committee’s discussion centered on enforcement, cultural equity and practical support for families. Policy Committee Chair said, “I right now, as the chair of the policy and the member of the board, you know, I want to be as fiscally responsible as possible, but also give the local building leaders some autonomy on how they wanna proceed with it.”
