Council approves aquatic center floats and two mowers for parks department

SPRINGDALE, Ark. — The City Council approved budget amendments and purchases Tuesday to replace worn equipment for the Parks and Recreation Department, including new pool floats for the Springdale Aquatic Center and two mowers with a trailer.
Parks staff told council one field mower needs replacement after heavy use and high repair costs; staff said the new field mower will be kept at Shaw Park to serve that facility and JB Hunt fields while other mowers handle southern parks. Council approved a resolution amending the 2025 budget to purchase the floats, and a separate resolution to purchase the two mowers and trailer.
Council members asked about timing and whether equipment could remain in place to avoid frequent trailering; staff said the plan is to keep the new field mower at Shaw Park to reduce logistical burden. The trailer will be used to haul a skid steer and other equipment as needed.
Both resolutions carried on recorded votes.
