Springdale Chamber reports $92 million in recent projects, more than 1,800 new jobs since January

SPRINGDALE, Ark. — At the council’s Sept. 9 meeting, Jay Sego of the Springdale Chamber presented the quarterly economic development report, highlighting several recent project openings and job growth for the city.
Sego said Governor Sanders, Mayor Doug Sprouse and others attended the recent grand opening of Keytronix’s new 300,000‑square‑foot facility, a project Sego described as a $28 million investment expected to create 400 new jobs over five years. He also highlighted the grand opening of Central States Manufacturing, a $24 million steel fabrication facility projected to create up to 140 jobs.
“Bottom line up front is Springdale has had a strong couple of months for new job creation and initial project investment,” Sego told council. He said the Chamber is tracking additional projects including Premium Brands of Northwest Arkansas (a $20 million investment and about 100 jobs) and other developments tied to Arkansas Children’s and UAMS construction schedules.
Sego reported that over 1,800 new jobs have been created in Springdale since January and that the city’s July sales tax receipts totaled $2,250,000, a 7.2% increase year‑to‑date. He also noted 12 commercial and 94 residential permits in the second quarter and said the city’s 3% unemployment rate is the second‑lowest in the state for the reported month.
The chamber said it continues to support workforce transitions at local employers and to work with Northwest Technical Institute on short‑term training programs launching this fall.
