A council member reported that two digital 60-kW generators at the Jefferson City site were identified, with reported run-hour readings of about 91 and 241 hours. The council member said the units were priced at $4,750 each and that the city could transport them if the council wished to proceed; the member estimated the total cost would be about $10,000 for two units.
Council members discussed that one unit might have higher hours if the lower-hour unit had already been sold and that transportation and any necessary servicing would be determined after confirming availability. The speaker noted the portable generator could be used to power a shelter at the American Legion Building, the VFW or a church facility in an emergency.
The motion to pursue purchase and authorize staff to obtain the generators was made and seconded; the presiding officer called for a voice vote and recorded the motion as approved. The council did not record individual roll-call votes on the record.
