The Excelsior Springs City Council on Aug. 18 approved Resolution No. 1598 authorizing purchase of a next-generation electrode stack and a diode rectifier for the community center pool's chlorine-generation system. Jesse Hall, who presented the item, said the pool uses an electrolysis-based chlorine generator and that the electrode stack — the component that generates chlorine — requires replacement about every three years. "This is a next gen chlorine, generator," Hall said, and the two components will allow the city to continue on-site chlorine generation while reducing water use, simplifying processes and eliminating hazardous chemical storage for staff. Hall told the council the replacement was identified during a phase-2 energy audit with Abertas and that the upgrade improves safety by reducing the risk of accidental exposure and leaks. The council moved and approved Resolution No. 1598 on a roll-call vote; all council members present voted yes. The purchase was presented as a planned maintenance and efficiency measure to sustain pool operations and reduce operational risk.
