The Excelsior Springs City Council on Aug. 18 approved Resolution No. 1597 to authorize lease-purchase agreements for five pieces of mowing equipment for the municipal golf course: two greens mowers, two fairway mowers and one small rough mower. A presenter identified as a golf-course representative outlined the funding plan: the city's Capital Improvements account will contribute $340,000 and the golf course funds will cover about $95,000. The council previously discussed the purchase during a Capital Improvements meeting and recommended proceeding. Council members discussed equipment retention: one greens mower earmarked for replacement still has some life but high mileage; council members encouraged staff to retain worn-but-serviceable units as backups rather than sell them. The council approved Resolution No. 1597 by roll call; all members present voted yes. The lease-purchase arrangement was presented as part of the golf course's planned capital purchases to sustain operations and turf care; the resolution authorizes execution of the necessary agreements.
