Council approves Paycom service agreement for payroll and HR as ordinance 25-24

The Bridgeton City Council voted 7-0 to approve a service agreement with Paycom for human resources and payroll services, adopting bill number 6499 as ordinance 25-24 after amending the bill to attach the contract presented at the meeting. The motion to approve was made by Council member Patel and seconded by Council member Suttell.
Council members discussed accuracy and efficiency benefits during final deliberations. Council member Luther said the system is “a sound investment” for a $32,000,000 organization with roughly 130 regular staff and many part-time employees. Council member Norris said the system will help manage variable schedules across departments and allow employees to “check their vacation, their sick time right on their phone or their laptop.” Council member Weshie described the current manual payroll process as outdated and supported the upgrade to modern technology.
The council amended the bill on the floor to attach the contract presented that evening; after the amendment passed, the clerk called the roll and recorded seven ayes. The ordinance directs the mayor and interim city clerk to execute a service agreement substantially in the form presented with Paycom.
No dissenting votes were recorded and no additional conditions were attached to the contract during the meeting. The ordinance will be numbered 25-24 and the city will proceed with execution of the agreement per the attached contract.
