At the Aug. 11 meeting, resident Iris Shoemaker of 5 Ranchwood Road used the public-comment period to thank the council and staff for actions taken after a prior complaint about truck engine-braking noise.
Shoemaker told the council that after she raised the issue at a previous meeting, she noticed a change around the city: a radar cart had been placed on a hill near the park and signs reading "no engine brakes" were installed at town entrances. She said multiple neighbors told her they had noticed the signs and other changes and that she wanted to publicly thank the people involved for the work.
"Please, help something to happen the first time. Thank you," Shoemaker said, quoting a teaching motto she used in outreach and saying she chose to speak in person rather than write a note.
Her remarks were limited to appreciation and an account of observed changes; she did not request additional council action during the comment period.
