The Mexico City Council approved a resolution authorizing the city manager to execute an agreement with Main Street Mexico Incorporated and appropriating $35,000 to support the organization's 2024-25 downtown revitalization program. The resolution was introduced by Mr. Schlegel and presented by Gigi McAbraham, who described Main Street Mexico Incorporated as "a community based, not for profit organization dedicated to enhancing our historical downtown area of Mexico through initiative focused on economic vitality, urban design, promotion, and community organization."
McAbraham told the council staff recommended proceeding with the resolution and funding to support the organization's ongoing program of work. The council moved for reading and passed the resolution (Bill No. 2025-59) by unanimous vote.
A member of Main Street Mexico's board, Barb Wilson, addressed the council during public comment and thanked the council for the support. Wilson, who gave her address as 718 South Jefferson, said she attended the recent downtown event and that the organization is "actively working on the tree project," adding that the council's appropriation "will help us move forward."
The resolution authorizes the city manager to sign an agreement and approves the appropriation; the transcript records no amendments. Council action was unanimous.
