MetroPark staff provided a marketing and operations update to the Yellowstone County Board of County Commissioners on Feb. 11, 2025, reporting new sponsorship revenue, large upcoming ticketed events and a planned arena lighting replacement project.
Staff said fair sponsorships total approximately $126,000 so far this year and that discussions were underway with a potential presenting sponsor the department hopes to finalize soon. Marketing coordinator Liz Arlene was recognized for being named to a “40 Under 40” distinction; the presenter said the department has pride in that continuing recognition.
Staff outlined several major bookings for 2025: a rescheduled Hosier show with about 8,400 tickets distributed for the new July 2 date, a Hot Wheels Monster event with three performances in two days, the Montana Globetrotters and multiple wrestling tournaments. Staff also said that the Hot Wheels performances will be staged inside the arena and will not require a dirt floor for the arena surface.
An arena lighting replacement project will replace lights above upper arena seating; staff said the work is tentatively scheduled for March–April and will be done primarily midweek so as not to affect scheduled events. Staff also reported a record turnout at the Chamber Ag Banquet (just shy of 800 attendees) and a rise in wedding bookings.
Commissioners asked procedural questions; staff said they were placing advertising, pursuing new presenting sponsorships, and continuing to book events for the arena and fair. No formal action was taken on the update; staff will continue planning and return with any items requiring board approval if needed.
