The Yellowstone County Sheriff swore in a new deputy and announced promotions for several detention-facility staff during the Board of County Commissioners public meeting on Feb. 11, 2025.
The board paused its regular business for a swearing-in ceremony led by the sheriff. Annalise Potter repeated the oath of office, saying, “I, Annalise Potter, do solemnly swear,” followed by the oath’s concluding lines. The sheriff and attendees congratulated Potter and noted she will receive her badge and paperwork from Sergeant Lowers.
During the same recognition segment, the sheriff announced internal promotions: Corporal Johnston was promoted to sergeant, and Officer Matisse was promoted to corporal to fill a vacancy created when a sergeant position opened. The sheriff described Johnston’s conduct handling difficult inmates and praised Matisse’s work in facility security.
Commission members and staff took photographs and offered brief remarks. The board then returned to the posted agenda.
The remarks occurred during the ceremonial portion of the Feb. 11 meeting and did not include separate formal votes recorded on the minutes beyond the regular consent items.
