Banner County commissioners scheduled a special meeting for fiscal-year claims at 8:30 a.m. on June 26 and agreed on a revised calendar for 2025–26 budget preparation during the June 3 meeting.
County Clerk Katie and Treasurer Kathy discussed publication deadlines and the need to allow time to compile June numbers. The board agreed to set June 26 at 8:30 a.m. for fiscal-year claims so the clerk can meet newspaper-notice deadlines and staff can close out accounts.
Commissioners also agreed to change the due date for officials’ 2025–26 budget submissions to July 14 so departments will have June’s final numbers to prepare accurate requests. The board asked the clerk to place dates for July budget workshops on the next agenda so the county can advertise and conduct the workshops as part of the fiscal-year planning process.
Separately, the board discussed handling FEMA funds that exceeded the amount budgeted; staff said the excess will show on the treasurer’s revenue side and that they will coordinate a resolution if required, but at the meeting there was no formal budget amendment adopted.
