The Yellowstone County Board of Commissioners on Aug. 5 set notices for final fiscal year 2026 budget hearings and approved final fiscal year 2025 budget amendments.
The board voted to set public hearings for Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2025, and Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2025, at 9 a.m. in Room 3108 to consider the final FY26 budget, setting FY26 county mills and any budget amendments for FY25. A commissioner moved to set the hearings and a second was recorded; the motion passed by voice vote.
Finance staff Miss Jones described the FY25 amendments approved at the meeting as routine housekeeping adjustments based on actual activity and reserve levels. "These are the ones we that I brought to you last week for, discussion. There are annual housekeeping ones... We made some changes so that Road and Bridge could both put more money into their CIP. Technology was the only other one that had to do with it... because we did a lot of upgrades to our technology department," Miss Jones said.
After discussion the board voted to approve the final FY25 budget adjustments; the chairman announced the motion carried after the ayes. The actions recorded at the meeting were procedural: setting the FY26 final hearing dates and approving amendments to close out FY25 accounts, reallocating reserve balances to capital improvement projects and recognizing prior-year technology expenditures.
No public comments on these finance items were received during the meeting.
