Charlene McArthur, the city's park superintendent, told the Fulton City Council that staff believe they have identified and repaired the splash pad's control panel issue and are allowing a week of operation to confirm reliability before officially posting that it is open.
"It's been very vexing for our maintenance staff to try to troubleshoot the control panel system, but fortunately, we have a great asset within the city. All the other departments have pitched in and helped us out, with the support of wastewater department. We believe we've identified the issue and taken care of it," McArthur said. She added, "We have not officially posted that it's open, but we're trying to give us a week to have it operating to make sure that it's fully functional."
Council members present thanked the parks, wastewater and maintenance crews for their work and for testing water-chemistry levels; McArthur said the water is "100% treated" and chemicals are tested at the correct levels. No formal vote or funding decision was taken at the meeting; McArthur's remarks were presented as an operational update and a timeline for reopening.
The council did not give a firm reopening date at the meeting; McArthur asked colleagues to wait for the city to post an official opening notice once routine checks are complete.
