Fulton mayor proclaims gratitude as CFO Dustin Doherty announces departure

Mayor Steve Myers announced during the City of Fulton council meeting in August 2025 that Chief Financial Officer Dustin Doherty will be leaving to return to Oregon and read a proclamation thanking Doherty for his service. The proclamation, read aloud by the mayor, said Doherty served as chief financial officer from June 2023 to September 2025 and credited him with guiding the city through difficult financial periods and earning clean audits.

The proclamation matters because the CFO oversees the city’s financial operations and internal controls. Mayor Steve Myers said Doherty “was the right person at the right time” and credited him with modernizing processes and strengthening internal operations. “You made such a difference in getting the city in a a better financial position,” Myers said as he read the proclamation into the record.

Doherty, who was acknowledged by name in the proclamation, spoke briefly to the council and audience: “I feel really blessed to have worked here for you all, and you guys have a great group of people here from the top down. So just really appreciated the opportunity.” The mayor also announced—during his remarks—that “Andy Johnson is an employment of the CFO for the city of Fulton,” as read from the dais.

The proclamation was ceremonial and issued by Mayor Steve Myers on behalf of the council; the mayor read the text into the record and affixed the city seal, per his remarks. There was no separate recorded vote on the proclamation during the meeting. The council and attendees offered thanks and applause following the remarks.

Looking ahead, Doherty’s stated departure date in the proclamation was September 2025; the city will rely on staff and any forthcoming personnel actions to fill finance duties until a permanent replacement is confirmed.
