Aldermen approve liquor-license renewals; some licenses remain pending county paperwork

Grain Valley aldermen voted to approve a series of liquor-license renewals and moved to approve a pending wholesaler license for JC Arondis Inc. (doing business as JC Arondis) contingent on receipt of the Jackson County wholesaler license and final payment.
City staff said many renewals remain pending because Jackson County sometimes withholds its license until it receives a city letter indicating conditional approval; the city will not issue its license until all required paperwork is complete. Staff said operators have until June 30 to submit outstanding items and that the police department assists with enforcement notices if licenses are not completed.
The board moved and seconded approval of the renewals; the police department had cleared the listed addresses and staff said there were no issues found during the review.
No individual renewals were rejected during the meeting; staff said they would follow up individually with applicants to list outstanding requirements.
