Grain Valley adopts multi-jurisdictional hazard mitigation plan

The Board of Aldermen voted to adopt a multi-jurisdictional hazard mitigation plan prepared by the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC), covering Cass, Clay, Jackson, Platte and Ray counties.
City staff told the board MARC had updated the hazard mitigation plan and requested that member cities adopt it so jurisdictions can coordinate strategies to reduce exposure to hazards. "The idea being that everybody kinda does their part to try to figure out ways to mitigate any of those hazards, hazardous conditions that we see," a staff member said.
The resolution (R25-34) was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
Staff said the plan is updated every few years and adoption aligns the city with regional mitigation priorities and potential funding sources.
