Grain Valley takes first-step to accept TAP grant for 10-foot Snibar Boulevard shared-use trail

Grain Valley aldermen accepted the first reading of Bill B25-10 to allow the city administrator to enter into a Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) funding agreement for a 10-foot-wide shared-use trail along Snibar Boulevard and Cross Creek Drive.
City staff said the TAP award covers 80% of construction costs with the city responsible for the 20% local share and design costs. "That's an 80 20 split. So 80%, funded through the program, 20%, construction funded through the city. We are responsible for the design cost," a staff member said. The proposed trail would run along the north side of Snibar Boulevard and the east side of Cross Creek Drive from Buckner Tarsney to the Blue Branch trailhead.
The board accepted the bill on first reading and will bring it back for a second reading by title at the next regular session.
City staff said accepting the ordinance authorizes the city to accept the grant funds when they become available and move forward with final design and construction scheduling.
