The Grain Valley Board of Aldermen approved Resolution R25-12 to designate identified city property as permissible locations for the 2025 Food Truck Friday events, including May 2, June 6, Aug. 1 and Oct. 3, and to add the post office parking lot and a Walnut Street closure between Maine and Gregg.
City staff told the board the requirement stems from a section of the city code that requires board approval for food trucks operating on city property. "We do have a section in the code that says, if food trucks are gonna be operating on city property. It does require board approval," a city staff member said during the discussion.
Staff said the calendar mirrors prior years except for the July date, which will not be scheduled because it falls on July 4, and an October date was added. The board also approved adding the parking lot near the post office and a temporary closure of Walnut Street from Maine to Gregg as event locations.
Aldermen voted by voice to approve the resolution; there was no recorded opposition.
The resolution is intended to provide designated, board-approved locations and dates for the public Food Truck Friday series and to ensure the events comply with the city code requirement for food trucks on city property.
