Poplar Bluff council to consider change order closing out Wolf Creek Trail Connector; project under budget

Council heard a presentation that the TAP-funded Wolf Creek Trail Connector is substantially complete, will finish under budget by about $150,000 after removing unneeded modular block retaining walls, and the council voted to move a change-order item to the July 7 voting session.
City Manager Robert Nodell told the Poplar Bluff City Council on June 16 that change order No. 1 to the Missouri Department of Transportation TAP project TAPDash5100012 (Wolf Creek Trail Connector) removes modular block retaining walls that were not needed, reduces project cost and future maintenance, and allows closure of the grant.
Nodell said the trail project is substantially complete and will finish under budget by approximately $150,000. He identified Poplar Bluff Parks and Recreation staff member Lanny Amiglia as available to answer detailed questions about the work.
Council members asked whether additional grants or MoDOT permission would be needed to connect the trail further toward Shelby Road. Staff said MoDOT permission may be required to connect to PP Highway and that Chamber of Commerce representative Steve Halter had been involved in earlier planning.
Council moved the change-order item to the July 7 voting session; the motion passed unanimously on June 16. No final contract adjustment was approved at the June 16 meeting; final change-order adoption will be considered at the July 7 voting session as scheduled.
