During the public‑comment period, Grain Valley resident Jan Bridal addressed the board about political‑sign regulation enforcement and timing. "I would hope that sometime soon there would be something better," Bridal said, urging that the current 10‑day post‑election removal period be reduced and that political signs be governed by a separate ordinance rather than folded into the broader sign code.
Bridal said she had checked with the school board and was told the district provides sign regulations, and she suggested the problem is noncompliance rather than miscommunication. "It isn't a matter of miscommunication, it's just a matter of not obeying the ordinance," she said, asking the board to make the removal window shorter and to consider a standalone ordinance so the issue is not entangled with unrelated maintenance codes.
Aldermen and staff responded that work on the broader sign code is ongoing and that political signs have been discussed previously; no formal direction, ordinance text or timeline for a political‑signs ordinance was given at the meeting.
