The Board of Aldermen approved a conditional use permit allowing a ghost‑kitchen operation and a future expansion at 7923 Forsyth. The board amended the hours so weekday operations may continue until 6 p.m.
The Board of Aldermen approved a conditional use permit Tuesday for Nate’s Deli LLC to operate a ghost‑kitchen at 7923 Forsyth Boulevard and allowed future expansion to add customer seating.
City staff described the application as a request to operate a roughly 900‑square‑foot ghost kitchen initially, expanding to about 1,900 square feet after renovations and adding 28 seats. The Central Business District does not require additional off‑street parking for restaurants under 3,000 square feet, staff noted.
Applicant Avi Rosenberg told the board he bought the business to bring a kosher deli and butcher closer to the Clayton Jewish community and described plans for catering to hotels, hospitals and schools. “It’s gonna be a deli slash butcher. We do a ton of catering,” Rosenberg said.
During the hearing, aldermen asked about recycling and grease management; Rosenberg said the operation currently uses separate dumpsters for cardboard, trash and a grease recycling container. The board also discussed future expansion and hours. Rosenberg said he expected to complete the build‑out within about six months once the adjacent tenant vacates and permits are issued.
Staff and aldermen agreed to amend the permit conditions to allow weekday operations through 6 p.m. The motion to approve the resolution with amended hours passed by voice vote.
Ending — Rosenberg was directed to coordinate permit details with city planning staff; the conditional use permit allows the ghost kitchen startup and authorizes a later build‑out and seating as described in the applications.
