Council approves street closures for Hannibal High band parade and Big River Steampunk Festival

Michael Fuller, representing Hannibal High School, described the parade route down Broadway turning onto Main to end in the Hannibal JC’s parking lot for bus pickup. Council approved the permit contingent on standard insurance and logistics; the council motion carried.
Tammy Riley, representing the Big River Steampunk Festival, requested adding Aug. 29 to the paperwork and described the festival cleanup and sanitation plan: designated dumpsters on North and South Main, hourly trash patrols and a daily/end-of-night cleanup crew. City staff confirmed event coordination with police and other departments; the council approved the permit.
Council recorded motions and votes to approve both events and asked staff to ensure insurance and cleanup arrangements were on file. No objections were raised during the council action.
