The City of Hannibal on June 17 received a first reading of updated design guidelines for the Historic (H-1) District after business owners told the council the rules have been applied inconsistently.
The guidelines, proposed by the Historic District Development Commission and introduced by interim City Manager Andy Dorian, aim to clarify standards for repair and construction in the downtown historic district and to make the appeals process clearer, Dorian said. “They've done a real look at, you know, how restorations restorationists look at things,” he told the council.
