Council adopts Greene County multi-jurisdiction mitigation plan resolution

Republic City Council voted to adopt Resolution 25-R-30, joining the Greene County multi-jurisdictional mitigation plan.
A city staff member, introduced as Mr. Hollenworth, gave the overview and said the mitigation plan is updated every five years and documents projects and gaps that support eligibility for federal mitigation grants and disaster response. "The mitigation plan is something we do every 5 years. This is my fourth one," Hollenworth said. He said the city partnered with Greene County to join the larger 768-page plan and that Republic copied only the portions relevant to the city to reduce printing and reporting costs.
Hollenworth said staff began work on the plan in 2024, consulted engineering on stormwater and other infrastructure needs, and spoke with information technology staff about cyber gaps. He said adoption must occur by October to complete Greene County signoffs required for FEMA reporting.
Council moved to adopt the resolution and approved it 6-0.
The resolution formalizes that the city is working on identified mitigation projects and places the city in the countywide planning framework that can be cited when applying for federal mitigation funding if grants become available.
