Council approves easements tied to Evergy substation move at 300 W. Pine

The Warrensburg City Council on Aug. 11 adopted an ordinance approving storm drainage and utility easements related to Evergy's planned substation relocation at 300 West Pine Street.
Interim Public Works Director Phil Adlidge said Evergy is moving a substation site within the Pine Street area and, as part of their construction, will reroute sewer and stormwater facilities that would otherwise be covered by the new substation footprint. The city presented new easements so that staff and Evergy will have legal access to the rerouted utilities.
Adlidge said the city already had easements in the area but needed to rededicate new alignments to reflect the utility relocations. He said Evergy will perform the work and that the new easements allow the city to maintain access and to cooperate with Evergy on relocation of stormwater and sewer pipes. The ordinance also covers an easement for power lines to cross a city parcel; Adlidge said the easement is city property but Evergy will perform the construction.
The council moved the ordinance to second reading by title and then adopted it. Recorded votes were: Osborne — yes; Latari — yes; Jones — yes; Mueller — yes.
There was no substantive change to existing municipal policy; the action formalizes new easement geometry and sets the city's access rights for the planned utility relocations.
Ending: Staff said the easement documents are executed so that Evergy can proceed with construction and the city can maintain access for storm and sewer infrastructure.
