The Warrensburg City Council adopted the City’s fiscal year 2026 annual operating budget on second reading, finalizing a document that staff said contains no substantive numeric changes since the last council review.
Mike Sprigg, city manager, presented the second reading and thanked staff who prepared the budget. "Since we spoke last your last meeting, there aren't any substantive numeric or financial changes to the document," Sprigg said. He noted a few editorial corrections remained but said the financial approach was unchanged.
During the budget discussion Councilmember Jones asked about the Hawthorne Park project and whether the fencing would be completed in the coming year. City staff explained the project’s phases: Phase 2 is the trail design, with the fence funded in an earlier phase through donations. Chris (staff) said the design will be completed by December, the city will go to bid next year for construction, and staff will apply for a grant next spring for the construction phase. The fence around the park is expected to be included in the construction phase if the grant is awarded.
Council approved the budget on the council's recorded second-reading vote (Kushner, Osborne, Latari, Jones, Euler voting yes). Sprigg said the document would be finalized with minor editorial corrections and the budget team would continue to respond to council questions.
No additional amendments to the budget were presented at the meeting.
