City awards $1.11 million Lions Lake improvement contract; dredging and infrastructure work planned

The Warrensburg City Council voted June 23 to award the Lions Lake Improvement Project to TriSmith Construction LLC for $1,113,502.42, including alternates, to perform dredging and infrastructure upgrades at Lions Lake.
Bill Floyd, who presented the item, said the city secured funding to cover the full bid and that the work includes dredging, rail improvements and related infrastructure. “We are looking forward to getting this project started,” Floyd said.
Council members asked about timing and environmental protections. Staff said the Missouri Department of Conservation will assist with turtle protection and restocking after the lake refill. City staff and the contractor tentatively proposed starting work in mid-to-late September and timing completion to allow drying and refilling in winter months; final schedule will depend on weather.
The ordinance authorizing the contract passed on second reading with affirmative roll-call votes. Staff said authorized work should permit rehabilitation of the city’s primary public lake and that the council would receive progress information as construction advances.
