The Village of Westmont approved permits and related waivers Aug. 7 to hold a new, village-sponsored Vision and Vibe Fest at Veterans Memorial Park, including amplified-sound permission, a temporary-liquor-license fee waiver and a street closure. Assistant Village Manager Parker said the two-day arts festival will feature visual art, music, theater and dance, local artists and demonstrations; Trustee Barker earlier described the event as a weekend (Saturday and Sunday) festival from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. that will feature more than 25 artists, music, theatre/dance groups, food trucks and craft-beer and wine sales. The board authorized closing Dallas between Linden Avenue and the alley between Linden and Warwick to accommodate the event. Trustees approved the event request by motion (mover: Trustee Barker; seconder: Trustee Plowman); roll-call votes were unanimous. Parker noted the event is village-sponsored rather than run by an outside entity, and staff followed the standard transparency and permitting process. The board also approved a temporary liquor-license fee waiver for the event and allowed amplified sound as requested. Staff said more specific operational details and vendor approvals will be handled through regular event permitting channels; no additional village appropriation was discussed at the meeting.
