Trustee Barker told the board that, following heavy rain, mosquito traps were checked and some mosquitoes tested positive for West Nile virus. Barker said the information came via an email the village received and that DuPage County “talks as a group and tries to coordinate a spring effort to minimize the risk for folks.”
The village has posted information about mosquito abatement and sign-up procedures for spraying notifications on the village website, Barker said; residents who want to receive alerts can sign up through the site. The village also noted a forthcoming mosquito spraying event; the exact spray date was not specified at the meeting.
Officials urged residents to follow posted guidance and sign up for notifications. No new local emergency declarations or additional funding actions were reported at the meeting.
