Westmont swears in Michael White as deputy police chief

Deputy Chief Michael White was sworn in before the Westmont Village Board and pledged to “support the constitution of the United States, the constitution of the state of Illinois, the laws of DuPage County and the Westmont Village Code of Ordinances.” Mayor Nero administered the oath and the board congratulated White on the promotion.
White told the board he was “humbled to step into this new position” and thanked the village leadership and members of the police department for their support. “This village and our department are full of talented and committed professionals,” he said, adding that he looks forward to working with Chief Brian Gruen and village leadership to keep Westmont “safe, welcoming and proud.”
White recognized family members in the audience and credited them with supporting his public-safety career. He noted his intent to support officers “so they can perform at their best” and to continue the department’s work serving residents.
The swearing-in proceeded as a ceremonial portion of the meeting; no formal board action was required beyond the Oath of Office.
The promotion was followed by informal remarks and a group photo; members of the board and the public congratulated White before the meeting moved into routine business.
