Tinley Park board approves Cook County intergovernmental agreement for Ninth Street resurfacing

On Sept. 2, 2025, the Village of Tinley Park Board of Trustees unanimously adopted Resolution 2025-R-104, approving an intergovernmental agreement with the Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways for a roadway resurfacing project described in the resolution and tied to an Invest in Cook County grant.

Trustee Brennan moved to adopt the resolution; the board seconded the motion and, on a roll-call vote, recorded “Yes” votes from the trustees present. The item had been discussed at the committee-of-the-whole meeting on Aug. 19, 2025; the resolution was presented to the board as eligible for adoption.

The resolution approves the form of an agreement between the Village of Tinley Park and the Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways for construction and engineering work described in the resolution as “170 Ninth Street resurfacing between Eightieth and 904th Avenues” (as recorded on the meeting agenda). The sponsor identified the Invest in Cook County grant as the funding vehicle during the motion to adopt.

Board members recorded no abstentions during the roll call and the resolution passed by unanimous vote of those present. The resolution directs village staff to finalize the intergovernmental agreement and proceed with coordination with Cook County to schedule engineering and construction activities consistent with the agreement’s terms.

The resolution was listed on the committee agenda on Aug. 19, 2025, and trustees said at the Sept. 2 meeting that the item had been vetted at that committee meeting.

Next steps identified by staff include executing the agreement with Cook County and coordinating construction scheduling, permits and traffic-control planning; the board did not set specific construction dates during the Sept. 2 meeting.
