During public remarks Shapira reflected on 22 years of service to the community and thanked colleagues and district staff.
The board administered the oath of office to Jaime Barraza, Richard Heinemann, and Jenny Lupa, each elected to four-year terms, and Alexander Brunk, elected to a two-year term. After seating the new trustees, the board adjourned the outgoing board and began the reorganization session.
At the reorganization meeting the board approved the recommendation to appoint Ali Mahenty, assistant superintendent of finance, as board treasurer for a one-year term following a motion and roll-call vote. The board also readopted its schedule of meetings for July 2025 through June 2026 and approved the assignment of board members to examine bills and salaries for the June 2025–June 2026 period.
The meeting included a brief public-comment period associated with the reorganization; one speaker, who identified herself as a district graduate and nonprofit founder, asked the board to consider participation in a pilot family/teen communication workshop and left a handout for district staff.
The reorganization session concluded with routine housekeeping and committee-assignment requests from the board president; the newly seated board will hold a follow-up reorganization meeting to elect officers and finalize committee assignments.
