Board authorizes chair to sign First Stop Health contract following insurer name change

Following an insurance committee review and a corporate rename/acquisition trail, commissioners authorized the chair to sign a contract reflecting First Stop Health as the provider formerly named Delphi/MidAmerica/Point C.
Hall County commissioners unanimously authorized the chair to sign a contract reflecting a vendor name change to First Stop Health, the county’s telehealth/pre-certification services provider, after the county’s insurance committee reviewed the corporate acquisitions and recommended approval.
The committee reported that MidAmerica (Point C) and other prior vendors had been acquired or renamed in a wave of insurer and vendor consolidation. The committee recommended executing the contract in the new vendor name so the county and the vendor match on contract paperwork.
Matt and Hannah (identified in the meeting as representatives from Point C/MidAmerica) attended the committee meeting and supplied claims experience through December; the county’s results through six months showed favorable metrics compared with the prior year, committee members said. The county also heard that competitive reinsurance bidders have entered the market and that preliminary renewal numbers will be provided on March 20.
A commissioner moved and the board voted 7-0 to authorize the chair to sign the First Stop Health contract, which was described as essentially a name-change signing rather than a contract-term renegotiation.
